Today’s pit stop is in Rajasthan and the folk art form that we are going to explore is Phad Painting. If you are a regular reader of my website, you would already know my love for different folk arts.
I have been trying my hand at a few of those forms and happy to say the learning bug in me is still very much curious and alive. So today we are in Rajasthan exploring Phad painting and today’s painting is Krishna playing his flute.
Phad painting means cloth/ scroll painting. This style of painting is traditionally done on a long piece of cloth or canvas, known as Phad. The paintings are narratives of the folk deities of Rajasthan. In recent times you can also see paintings from Ramcharitamanas, Bhagavatha, Hanumaan Chaleesa.
