Dasara is around the corner. How are you guys decking up? After coming to USA, had missed celebrating this festival. I have these fond memories of my mom celebrating this festival by placing dolls, and preparing sweets and savouries for 10 days.

As promised have got you my next post on how we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi this year. Memories of accompanying dad, in getting the Clay/pop Ganesha idol home, decorating it with flowers and all the yummy sweets on the festival day, all of these are etched deep.

Yesterday August 17th , marked the festival Yajur Upakarma and today August 18th marks the Gayatri Japam day. The main purpose of Upakarma is to offer prayers and express the gratitude to those Rishis who gave the knowledge of Vedas and revealed Vedic Mantras to the mankind.
