Bird in Gond Art

The Gond tribal community is one of the Central India’s largest communities and their art is an expression of their everyday life. The fine lines, dots and dashes are used in the Gond Paintings. The Gond tribe believed “viewing a good image begets good luck”. This belief led the Gonds to decorate their houses and the floors with these traditions forms of painting. However, now the artists paint on canvases and other surfaces.
The fine lines, dots and dashes are drawn to distinguish different layers or surfaces while painting.
