Kauai Paradise on earth

By | December 14, 2018

This my first travelogue and this time I just could not stop myself from writing. After coming to USA, have visited a number of places but only, a very few places have always intrigued me and this tops the list now.

Vivid sunsets, not so crowded beaches, simple living, local food all of it makes me wanna go back.

Hawaii has been on the bucket list for long but then, I don’t know some how the plan never materialised and we never went. And now with a toddler I really did not want to go. I hope you can understand, diaper changing, carrying the car seat, their food all of it would not make it feel like a holiday.

But, I was wrong. We did not miss doing anything, and we did all that we had planned and more, now after returning, all we want to do is GO BACK.

So here today I bring you the itinerary.

Out of all the islands we selected Kauai. Many parts of the island are still not accessible making it the most beautiful island of Hawaii.

The famous is Maui but there were reasons why we selected this. Our friend who had visited this island had mentioned us about a Hindu monastery and Rudraksh forest.
We were amazed to learn about this place and we wanted to go there.

The best months to visit Kauai is September to November or from April to June when the prices of the airfare and hotel drop as well as the weather is pleasant.

However the prices during Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas is usually high, so we booked our trip after Thanksgiving weekend.

Escaping Seattle weather in December was the best thing about this entire trip. The trip was booked for totally 7 days and 6 nights, through Expedia. Airfare+ hotel+ Car was booked through Expedia. It was a direct flight from Seattle(Sea-Tac) to Kauai (Lihue)

You may think 7 days, really is it necessary, but if you are some one like me who wants to experience the culture, lifestyle and food then even seven days isn’t enough. I always believe that you need to taste the lifestyle, to actually enjoy a place.

Day 1 It was an afternoon flight, we landed in the evening, picked our car from the airport, checked-in to hotel and slept early, cause we had to start early on the next day.

Day 2 Waimea Canyon, Poipu Beach park

Day 3 Hindu Monastery, Rudraksh forest, Hanalei Bay, Beach at the hotel

4 Spouting Horn, Hanapepe swinging Bridge, Salt pond Beach park, Plane ride along the Napali coast.

Day 5 Kamokila village, Wailua River cruise, Fern grotto, Fire and Luau dance

Day 6 Kilauea Lighthouse, Lydgate beach park, Shopping at Coconut market place.

Day 7 We started our journey back to Seattle.

There were other activities too like Kayaking through the Wailua River, Snorkelling and Queens bath. Well with tides being high we missed doing a few things. The Queens Bath hike was slippery and difficult, with toddler we decided to skip the hike.

Will do a series of posts on where we stayed, how we planned and what activities we did with pictures. If you are looking to book a trip to Kauai then I have some interesting write-ups coming up.
