Gouache- Roaring Clouds

By | February 6, 2020

Its been raining cats and dogs from past two days continuously with no break, and a lot of places have flooded. Just hoping and praying for all of us to be safe. So thought of painting those roaring clouds, and hoping it stops raining soon.

Today I tried painting with Gouache instead of watercolours. I have a long way to go, but I did want to post my first attempt, painting gouache.

Gouache- Roaring Clouds

Gouache (pronounced “gwash”) are water-soluble paints that combines both aspects of Watercolours and Acrylics. They were easy to use.

Arteza set of 24 Gouache

They become transparent when thinned with water and acts like Watercolour paint. Yet, unlike watercolors, it can be worked from dark to light and you can paint in white areas.

It contains a lot of pigment, it is thick and opaque like acrylic paint. But, unlike acrylics, which once dry can’t be reworked, gouache allows you to return days later and alter your work.

Materials required:
1. Arteza Gouache -set of 24
2. Strathmore paper 400( same paper what you use for watercolour)
3. Masking tape
4. Princeton Brushes( same brushes what you use for watercolour)

Hope you guys try it, well I haven’t got a hang of it still will soon make some posts on the techniques
Till then, Happy Painting.
